Buying or Selling in September
If you are thinking of selling or buying a home, you maybe thinking that summer is over and this isn’t the time. Actually this can be one of the best times to buy or sell.
As a seller you have more competition in the housing market and not as many buyers may see you home. Also there are a lot of tire kickers who think that summer is a great time to get driven around by real estate agents to get ideas for their own home.
The buyers that are out there are more serious and more willing to close. They have been frustrated all summer long by trying to find that dream home, just to be out bid or not fast enough. They are now ready to buy and with less homes on the market, when they find what they want they bid and usually bid full price to make sure they don’t lose another one.
As a buyer, during the summer you are competing against all the families out there that don’t want to buy a home after school and all the fall sports start. They have enough going on in their lives and don’t want to have to worry about trying to find a house.
The good news for buyers is that when you find a home that you want you don’t have as much competition, so you have a less chance of losing that dream home to a bidding war. But the sellers are less willing to negotiate on price.
Having a Realtor® that communicates with you can help you keep the most money in your pocket. Remember you need to have an agent that represents you!
